Why Atlantic Speech

Confidence is a skill. We teach it like one.

You speak every week

Classes are small and capped, so every student is on their feet speaking in every session. Nobody hides at the back.

Feedback, not a grade

Students leave each class with one specific thing to work on next, from a coach who is watching them, not a rubric.

Coaches who have done it

Every coach has competed and won at a high level of speech or debate. Students learn craft from people who have lived it.

The coaches

Learn from people who win rooms for a living.

Questions

Parents ask us

What ages do you teach?

Students aged 11 to 19. Classes are grouped by age and stage, so an 11-year-old giving a first speech and a 17-year-old preparing for competition are never in the same room. If you are unsure where your student fits, a free consultation ends with a placement recommendation.

My child is really nervous about speaking. Is this right for them?

That is exactly who we build the beginner classes for. Foundations of Speech starts with low-pressure games and short turns, not a speech on day one, in a small group the same age. Most nervous students surprise themselves within a few weeks. Speaking confidence is trained, not something you are born with.

How do I know which program to start with?

Start with a free consultation. We learn about your student, answer your questions, and recommend the right class before you commit to anything. As a rough guide: Foundations for a beginner (roughly 11 to 13), Confident Speaker for a student who can already give a speech, and Competitive Speaker for a student who wants to compete.

Are classes live, or recorded?

Every class is live and online. Public speaking is a skill you build by speaking to real people who respond in real time, so recorded lessons do not work for it. Classes are small and capped so every student speaks in every session.

How big are the classes?

Small on purpose, usually six to eight students in the group programs and fewer in the interview course. The cap exists so every student gets real speaking time and individual feedback every week, which is the whole point.

What makes Atlantic Speech different from a school club or a generic course?

Two things. First, the coaches: every one has competed and won at a high level of speech or debate, so students learn craft from people who have actually done it. Second, the feedback: students speak every week and leave every session with one specific thing to work on, instead of sitting through a lecture.

Do you help with school presentations, competitions, or interviews?

Yes. The core skills carry directly to class presentations and student leadership. Students who want to compete take Competitive Speaker & Debate, and students preparing for a specific admissions or scholarship interview take the Interview & Presentation program or 1-on-1 sessions.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. Every new student starts with a free consultation. We learn about your student, answer your questions, and recommend the right place to start before you pay anything.
